Dave's 'Sounding Board' Page!

Off the beaten path..Who is more stupid here?

Personal Gripes Area!

This page is being devoted to the most superb insults to the American working people by the marketing world! I'll begin with my favorites and we'll grow from there...

1-800-COLLECT

This commercial endorsement for the 'cheap elite' is amazing! Al Bundy and his buddies just sit around and try to figure out who is going to make a long distance call and MAKE THE RECIPIENT PAY FOR IT! Talk about tightfistedness! Don't the people on the other end of the phone wonder why these deadbeats can't get a job and pay for their own phone calls?

10-10-whatever

This is more of the same BS! How exciting it is to call Aunt Mildred in Barcelona during peak hours and make her spend her retirement money to hear from her cheap relatives in America! The worst part of these ads is the fact that most of the companies are the major long distance carriers! Lucky Dog and 321 are AT&T and MCI! If they're so proud of all the money they save you why not tout their real names? Did I neglect to mention the tiny little charges they add-on for such things as minimum connect time and service charges for the service. Aunt Mildred, I hope you earn a good pension and I guess you'll be eating peanut butter sandwiches for dinner again!

Bernie and Phyls Furniture Discount

In the Massachusetts area there is a furniture store that sells famous maker furniture such as leather by Matuzi. Who the heck is Matuzi and why haven't I seen this name at any other furniture stores if it's the best in the business? This real life married couple have, in my opinion, the worst and cheesiest commercials I have seen in a loooong while! Hey guys, leave acting to the actors! PLEASE!

QVC, Home Shopping Club, ad infinitum

Are there any actresses out there, that still have a career, that aren't try to sell clothes, scents or jewelry? Connie Stevens, Joan Rivers, Victoria Principal please give us a break! Somebody change the channel, QUICKLY!

Boch Toyota in Norwood, MA

We have put up with years of annoying car dealer commercials only to be surpassed by Ernie Boch! I have to admit that I did purchase two new cars from him over the years but his advertisements did not influence my decision to buy there, just location. I didn't "Come on down!" because of him! I just want to know one thing, Ernie. What's with the Llama and all the Latino and Japanese references? Who is Chico and how does he fit into the life of Mr. or Ms. J. Q. Public? Time for professional writers, Ernie!

Personal Praises Section!

This section of the page is dedicated to the comendable, or humorous, advertisers out there!

Samuel Adams Beer commercial-Radio Broadcast.

I heard a commercial for Sam Adams beer where a man was just talking and going on about how life was and where it can take you and where there was adversity there was always hope, etc. What struck me about the ad was that I couldn't stop listening to it. The mans voice was strong and calming to the point where you found yourself completely relaxed listening to him. No yelling or singing or 'catchy' jingles, just a talk amongst friends. 4 Gold Stars to the Samuel Adams Brewing Co.
